Invocation — We call on the name of our Savior God as we praise Him.
Confession and Absolution — We acknowledge that we have not done what God asks and have sinned. Then, we are assured of forgiveness because of what Jesus Christ has done for us.
The Word — We hear selections from the Old Testament and the New Testament with a brief explanation of each reading.
Response to the Word — We respond with Hymns, Psalms, prayers, and offerings for the things God has promised to us and for the strength to do what he has asked.
Creed — Statement of our beliefs.
Holy Communion — We practice member Communion with those who are members of WELS or ELS congregations. We offer Communion the 1st & 3rd Sunday of every month.
Offering — We give to help the Lord’s work in our community and around the world.
Blessing — We hear one last assurance of God’s care.
The beginnings of New Hope Lutheran Church can be traced back to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Merritt Island, Florida who decided to establish a mission congregation in the area of Melbourne, Florida. At that time, Redeemer was the only WELS church in all of Brevard County. Many members of Redeemer were making the 40-minute drive from the Melbourne area to worship in Merritt Island.
Exploration of the Melbourne area began in September of 1979. Worship services in Melbourne were first conducted on April 30th , 1980, at the Adventist Hall in Melbourne. New Hope’s Charter Sunday was December 14th, 1980, with 41 communicant members signing as charter members.
This new mission congregation met in the Melbourne Municipal Band Building in April until the Worship Enhancement Facilities construction in 1984. New Hope’s current sanctuary, which has space for approximately 200, was constructed in 1995. In 2005 New Hope began and built an academy with an expansion project in 2015.
